Don’t let late fees and late night runs to the video store interrupt your life ever again, try Vongo. Through Vongo you can download over 2500 popular movies including many from Walt Disney Films. Additionally, you have two pricing options, full membership at less than $10 per month where you get unlimited film downloads, or you can pay per movie.

This service offers a good selection of major releases and provides responsive customer service; however, falls behind the top three movie download services because currently they only offer rentals, whereas, the top three services include films for purchase, they currently offer only 2500 titles, and you have to register and download their software before you can browse their movies.

Movie Selection:  

Vongo offers more than 2500 familiar titles including Starz movies. They have new releases as well as specialized categories like Anime, Art Cinema, Urban, Extreme Sports, Classics, Concerts and Quickies (short films). They also provide free previews for many of their films, user ratings and a brief synopses to help you choose a movie.

The kids and family section includes nearly 100 films for pay–per–view or for download including many from Walt Disney Films. They have parental control options and do not offer adult titles.

If you choose the membership option, it costs $9.99 per month and you get unlimited downloads onto as many as three devices (computers or handhelds) and you can watch them until they expire. With membership, you also receive the streaming version of the Starz television channel. If you choose not to become a member, you can download pay–per–view titles and just pay per film. Pay–per view selections are available for up to 24 hours after you start watching them.  

Ease of Use of Service:  

This service is easy to use once you get through the registration process. However, the registration takes several minutes, requires a credit card and you have to download their software before you can use Vongo or browse their titles.

Once your get through the process you will soon find they have a good selection of titles and strive to make using your portable devices to view movies easy. You can transfer the movies to portable devices that use the Portable Media Center Version 2 operating system. Another unique option this service offers is you can download a movie onto up to three devices, for example, you could download a movie to your portable device as well as to your kid’s PC.

It is also easy to find movies—you can sort by title, rating or expiration. The advanced search will let you search by title, actor, director, format, rating or language. The Vongo Video Download Service program also provides members with their own library, a download manager and the option to rate movies.  

Help/Support:  

This service offers telephone and email support. They have chat support as well, and when we used the chat option, they answered our questions quickly and were friendly. Vongo posts an extensive FAQ section that covers most of the general questions including how to get your movie downloads to work with various devices.

Summary:  

Vongo offers an excellent selection for $9.99, which includes over 1000 popular feature films and access to the streaming version of the Starz channel. They offer friendly and helpful customer support and family friendly options.

Since Vongo offers pay per view at a per movie price, you could easily try their services before you decide whether you want to become a full member or not. For $9.99 per month, you may never have to go to a video store and pay the dreaded late fees ever again.
