Blockbuster Teams Up with Sonic Solutions for Movies Downloads

We were just about ready to say goodbye Blockbuster. After watching and predicting the exponential increase of the video rental business being slowly crippled by the ease and convenience of downloadable content, we assumed Blockbuster and crew were gone. But they just won't go down without a fight.
Blockbuster announced yesterday a partnership with Sonic Solutions (recently purchased the movie downloading service CinemaNow) to offer more than 10,000 movies for rent and sale via the web for your PC and TV, Blu-Ray player, set-top box, cell phone, you name it.
Despite the higher prices Blockbuster is offering - almost as much as renting a movie - Blockbuster is still competitive because they will be offering more newer titles than their competition. It'll be interesting to see what happens to the video rental kings and if they can save themselves with the move to downloadable content.
