Apple has come a long way in the last few years. iTunes has taken over the music entertainment world and has become synonymous with music downloading. Now, with ever expanding hard drives on their portable players iTunes has entered the business of movie downloads. This service is great for those already with iPods, because the films are formatted and designed to work seamlessly with other Apple technology. However, compared to some of our top rated sites they still fall short on selection and options and other MP3 players may have some difficulties with formatting.

Movie Selection:  

Honestly, a two and a half is not a bad score. It just means at this point iTunes’ Movie Downloads is a pretty average site with a decent selection of feature films. There are only about 600 titles offered and only a handful are new releases. However, they include a wide range of films from Finding Nemo, to Breakfast at Tiffany’s, to Reservoir Dogs. Additionally, they have a pretty impressive selection of television shows. Currently, you can download the latest television episodes, from many popular shows, the day after it airs for $1.99.

iTunes also offers music videos, podcasts, Pixar shorts and audio books. They also include trailers for most of their films. 

Ease of Use of Service:  

Films can be watched on five registared PCs and an unlimited number of iPods; however, their format is only compatible with other MP3 players if the hardware supports Apple’s file types.

If you are familiar with downloading iTunes for your iPod, than you should have no problem downloading Apple iTunes movies. The free downloadable program available through this site supports excellent organizing tools, centered on the iPod, such as the ability to create play lists and sync up with Outlook and calendars in Widows.

It is also easy through this site to buy and send songs, albums, playlists, music videos and TV shows as gifts to anyone with an email address. Alternatively, you can print a certificate with a redeemable code or purchase a prepaid Music Card or iTunes Music Store gift certificate.  

Help/Support:  

Apple iTunes offers extensive customer support options through their web site including phone support. However, wading through some of the information can be a daunting experience.

Summary:  

Generally, this is an all around good download service that provides almost a one-stop-shop for many of your download needs. And if you’re looking for huge selection of new music videos and hit television shows, than iTunes is legitimate and reasonably priced. They also support one of the best, if not the best, music download service available. We have a feeling that it won’t be long before iTunes Movies gives some of the other movie download sites a real run for their money.
